Swansea licks its wounds at Cardiff victory
Article Abstract:
The formal opening of the planned National Assembly for Wales will take place in May 1999 at a council chamber in the University of Wales in Cardiff, with citizens of Swansea, Wales, deeply angered by the decision to locate the Assembly in Cardiff. Secretary of State for Wales Ron Davies initially welcomed Swansea's offer to site the Assembly in Swansea's Guildhall when Cardiff's City Hall was deemed unsuitable, but Davies ultimately decided to construct a new building on the south side of Cardiff. The tense relationship between the two cities is rapidly worsening.

Banking on change - the only safe investment
Article Abstract:
The UK financial services industry has undergone significant changes over recent decades. This is presenting considerable challenges for professional bodies which educate financial services practitioners. They must evolve too, ensuring that they are relevant to employers, and must be in a position to lead change. If they are dynamic and adaptable, they will be able to play a key role in bringing about changes in higher education and establishing a set of widely recognized financial services qualifications.
