Child of the killing fields
Article Abstract:
University Researcher Chanrithy Him worked with survivors of the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. The refugees were children at the time who experienced the death of their relatives and many atrocities carried out by the Khmer Rouge. Him found writing her book 'When Broken Glass Floats: Growing up under the Khmer Rouge' helped her to cope more easily with her own memories. Her work with the refugees was so difficult she had to have therapy. The study showed how the survivors had mostly managed to come through their experiences and lead worthwhile lives.

Less Minerva, more Venus
Article Abstract:
University monographs, the American university press publications containing original research to a small circulation list, have become less popular over the last ten years, although interest may be revived by the use of Electronic publishing facilities. About 300,000 monograph titles are printed every year, although some sources have estimated a much lower number than this. University presses have been under more commercial pressure to print subject matter which is popular and esoteric.
