Bonus culture sweeps sector
Article Abstract:
Seventy seven percent of universities are introducing an element of performance-related pay (PRP) and only six percent have ruled out PRP, according to a survey of 129 higher education institutions by the University and Colleges Employers' Association (UCEA). The survey found that 81 percent of universities are introducing, or plan to introduce, new improved 'performance management' systems to identify the best and worst staff.

Pay impasse set to hit finals
Article Abstract:
The national pay dispute is expected to continue and affect final exams in the summer after informal talks about talks between unions and employers ended in deadlock. The Universities and Colleges Employers' Association has said it will not enter formal pay talks with Natfhe and the AUT unless their campaign of industrial action over pay was suspended.
