Boycott will do nothing to change Israeli policy
Article Abstract:
The Association of University Teachers in the UK has voted to boycott Haifa and Bar Ilan Universities in Israel, as a result of their failure to speak out against the Israeli Government. It is contended that the move misreads the situation in the Israeli academy, grossly misunderstands the basic principles of academic freedom and life, and that the British and international academic communities would do better to reach out to both the Israeli and Palestinian academic communities in order to empower them.

All alone in the crowd
Article Abstract:
International students may suffer from a sense of isolation when they enrol at universities with an ethos with which they are unfamiliar. In order to get them through this sense of isolation, institutions and their staff need to encourage foreign students to get involved in campus life and mix with their peers.
