New guidelines confound v-cs
Article Abstract:
Senior university officials are calling for clearer guidelines on the meaning of ratings in the 2008 research assessment exercise (RAE) for academics. Final criteria will be unveiled in February. Concerns have also been raised that RAE panels for different subject areas will have inconsistent approaches to key issues in the exercise.

Article Abstract:
The University and College Union (UCU) has surveyed members and found that only 16 percent felt their institution was doing something to tackle rising stress levels. This is despite the publication in summer 2006 of guidelines for employers on measures to reduce workplace stress.
