Foundation drive takes off
Article Abstract:
Ministers in the United Kingdom have reversed plans to freeze student places next year in order to move forward with the expansion of foundation degrees, which are projected to attract 50,000 students by 2006. An extra 10,000 foundation degree places wil be made available next year, backed by UKPd14.5 mil worth of government funding. The Higher Education Council for England will seek bids for the funding in October 2003.
