Cellular songs in the key of life
Article Abstract:
Unlocking the process by which the human body renews itself will help scientists and doctors combat disease as well as giving us a better understanding of ourselves and our true potential as human beings. It is argued that stem cell research is vital for us to gain a full understanding of how the body works. It is acknowledged that this research will take time and that clinical treatments will only emerge from this research once numerous basic and practical challenges have been answered. However, once these questions have been answered we are likely to see a revolution in the treatment of degenerative diseases.

The fair and the fowl
Article Abstract:
Ruth Harvey, a postdoctoral researcher investigating avian flu at Oxford University, contends that, while she is on a five-year contract and is involved in research on a global health issue at a leading university, she still feels the pressure to make a name for herself. Harvey notes that research in this area is particularly interesting as any advances could have an impact on the lives of millions of people.
