Check out library's romance
Article Abstract:
The architecture of the new British Library is impressive even though it has been criticised. It replaces the historic Reading Room in the British museum which will no longer be used. Some observers have suggested libraries are under threat from new technology. Yet many institutions are celebrating anniversaries, such as Library of Congress's Beaux-Arts Thomas Jefferson Building. Many British libraries do not offer students the opportunity to study in the evening as provided by their counterparts in the US. President Bill Clinton and Businessman Bill Gates both plan to open new libraries.

Life stirring on the campus
Article Abstract:
There are signs that students at US universities are becoming increasingly committed to social issues. In contrast with their counterparts in the 1960s, today's social campaigners at US universities are working with labour, rather than against it. At some universities, students have backed 'living wage' campaigns by the lowest-paid university employees. Students challenge and question, and have the potential to change the social order for the better.
