The woman before the cross
Article Abstract:
Feminist theology aims to transcend gender stereotypes, according to Sarah Oakley, Christian theology professor at Harvard. She sees vulnerability as a difficult issue since it can be used for justifying abuse of women. Women have been presented as a temptation leading men away from God. Coakley still sees positive aspects to vulnerability and argues that fragility should be confronted. Coakley was previously at Oxford University, England, which she saw as conservative in its theology department.
