A diverse group of educationalists has formed the Association for Commonwealth Studies which is aimed at understanding the activities of the Commonwealth of Nations at all levels. The association, whose members include representatives of the Commonwealth Institute and the Association of Commonwealth Universities, will enable academic networking through meetings, publications, workshops and electronic communication.

Selling starvation: the origins and myths of famine culture
Article Abstract:
Famine is usually seen as a drop in food supply, linked with natural disaster such as a drought. The famine in Africa may have different causes, many of the countries presently suffering hunger were prosperous in the years immediately after independence. Falls in commodity prices, rises in imports and wars may have been contributory factors to the present situation.

Fat leads to famine

Issues concerning the distribution of global food resources are discussed. Some 800 million people are still officially malnourished, even though food supplies are in fact ample to feed everybody.
