Dark dealings under scrutiny
Article Abstract:
Speakers at the ninth International Anti-Corruption Conference in Durban, South Africa, placed strong emphasis on the role of research in revealing corrupt practices. The delegates highlighted the fact that serious efforts to tackle corruption in their countries had been fuelled by research that showed attitudes towards graft and where and what type of corruption was taking place. Community Information, Empowerment and Transparency Executive Director Neil Andersson stated that data obtained through surveys improves transparency and challenges the secrecy in which corruption flourishes.
