Diploma in disguise
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom government's plans to introduce foundation degrees which last for two years have been criticised by some observers as being aimed at children from less wealthy families. There are also concerns the new degrees will not be offered by all universities and therefore be less acceptable. Other observers point out the degrees include time spent in the workplace yet many firms already feel overwhelmed at the number of students they take for work experience. The two-year foundation degrees are expected to be vocational.
