Doncaster bid for university status
Article Abstract:
Doncaster College further education institution has announced plans to bid for university status and aims for a university title within six to eight years. If Doncaster College is to achieve its aims, higher education student numbers at the college's university centre in High Melton will have to quadruple to around 4,000 full-time equivalents.

Lecture hours rise
Article Abstract:
The teaching day has been extended by universities by the equiavelent of almost one and a half days per week in an attempt to relieve pressure on space, according to research by the Institute of Education, University of London. Lectures beginning at 8.30 am or ending at 6.30 pm are now not uncommon.

Dissatisfied staff plan exodus
Article Abstract:
Nearly one quarter of university staff plan to leave their current employers in the coming year as they seek new challenges and higher wages, according to a survey by The Times Higher. The survey found that just under half of staff plan to leave their jobs within two years.
