Article Abstract:
It is argued that a proactive response is required to PhD programme reductions, the diminishing job market, and increased use of part-time faculty in humanities. Improvements need to be made in the academic workplace, with a greater focus on what is required of education in the 21st century. Similarly, the use of part-time faculty should be reduced and the issue of graduate education and employment addressed.

Paediatric drugs are finally being tested on children but as pharamceutical firms fight to capture a share of the market, there are concerns that children are not always benefiting. Policies promoting paediatric participation in clinical trials are being interpreted to allow too much focus on access, which exposes children to unnecessary and significant risks.
