...believe UK university chemistry is in need of a complete overhaul
Article Abstract:
Issues relating to the argument that the study of chemistry at universities in the United Kingdom is in need of a complete overhaul are examined. It is argued that researchers in the UK are, generally, involved in work that is incremental, rather than innovative, pursuing work that is safe because they are afraid to ask and answer the big questions. It is suggested that a complete restructuring is needed if the downturn in UK university chemistry is to be combated and important research is to be entered into.

...believe the Institute for Learning and Teaching in HE is pointless
Article Abstract:
Issues relating to the contention that the Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education is a pointless body, membership of which offers no benefits, are examined. It is argued that the accreditation services offered by the institute can be gotten more cheaply elsewhere, and that academics can avail of research and innovation services without having to pay to join the institute.
