York paves nation's road out of ruin
Article Abstract:
Haneef Atmar, Afghanistan's minister for rural rehabilitation and development, describes how he will draw on the ideas, skills and shared experiences that he gained from a year at York University as he attempts to rebuild Afghanistan. He believes that the well-informed intellectual discussions that he engaged in while at York during 1996-1997 exposed him to the experiences of other nations and conflicts, and that this has been helpful in terms of his analysis of Afghanistan's situation.
