Figure it out: the position of non-Caucasians in higher education remains uneasy
Article Abstract:
Figures released by the University and Colleges Admissions Service show that blacks and Asians represent more than 11 % of all home applicants accepted to universities. The figures indicate that blacks and Asians are twice as likely to begin a unversity education as their white couterparts. About 42% of black applicants are over 25, compared to just 13% of white applicants and 8% of Asians. Many black students feel that better qualifications will counter labour market discriminations.

New angles on old rules
Article Abstract:
There is a continuing debate between mathematicians as to whether mathematical truths are discovered or invented. Absolutists see mathematics as being objective and universal, and woven into nature. However, fallibilists believe that mathematics is incomplete and ever-changing, and that mathematical truths are invented. Indeed, they argue that absolute truth does not exist. For example, different mathematical interpretations mean that 1+1=2 and 1+1=1 are both true.
