Funding: Make the National Commission Report Work for You
Article Abstract:
The National Commission on Excellence in Education's report on the current state of education in the United States can be used as support for asking communities to increase financial aid for upgrading the schools' materials and equipment. However, other means to interest residents and businesses in helping schools must also be found. Potential resource people can be asked to lecture or tutor in areas relevant to their interests. Computer fairs are a means to demonstrate student activities. By keeping local citizens involved in the public schools, they will be more apt to provide financial and other support in times of need.
