Funding: Community Support and Community Funding
Article Abstract:
Funding for schools to purchase hardware and software require innovative sources. Schools should approach groups which have a special interest in a school's success, such as parent groups or local business people. In Knoxville, Tennessee, educators went public in their effort to raise money by holding an open house to show the community, press, and TV stations what had been done with current equipment, and what was still needed. They successfully raised money for expansion. Other fund raising efforts include computer fairs, computer days, technological fairs, and organizing supporters to serve as an advisory committee. Such a committee could include interested people from the open house, local business people, and school administrators.

Funding: Turning Rejection Into Success
Article Abstract:
Several observations in grant writing procedures are given. For instance, many applications for grants are turned down because the writing is inappropriate, and not because of the project content. Suggestions to improve the writing and organizing of proposals are given, as well as the types of materials that will improve a revision.
