An overview of the work being conducted by the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIAR). It is noted that the work of the CIAR stems from a fundamental belief in the power of collective genius and an aversion to the imposition of mechanistic rules on the research process combined with a commitment to bringing together some of the leading minds with different approaches to work in the pursuit of knowledge.
