Article Abstract:
An analysis of the growing number of Internet sites in the United States on which students can evaluate their lecturers and give their opinions about the courses they offer. Anita Levy, associate secretary of the American Association of University Professors' Department of Academic Freedom, argues that the customer mindset that these sites are increasingly encouraging could actually corrode academic standards, with the emphasis being put on impressing the "consumers" rather than educating the students.
