How we can engineer an independent genetics body
Article Abstract:
There is a need for the United Kingdom to set up a Royal Commission to examine genetic engineering and its future, dealing with plants, humans and other animals. The proposals of such a commission could later form part of legislation covering this area. There are possibilities for benefits from genetic engineering, such as the creation of drugs to treat conditions which had previously been incurable. There is also public anxiety around the issue of genetic engineering, which has to be addressed.

What a waste
Article Abstract:
The reclassification of polytechnics as universities in 1992 has obscured the distinction between the two. Polytechnics should have concentrated on offering good science and technology courses in order to be recognised as centres of excellence. Instead they offer various below-standard humanities, resulting in a decline in the standards and status of these institutions. Although it will be difficult, the singular university system must be revised before it is completely devalued.
