In a spin over fees
Article Abstract:
The senior research officer of the Association of University Teachers analyses the education policy of the Labour Government and the various forms it has taken in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is contended that with the introduction of top-up fees in England, universities could become less dependent on the state, which in turn could cause universities in Scotland and Wales to pressure their executive bodies to introduce similar measures.

It is suggested that Manchester will find this difficult, particularly if they want British laureates, as the majority of British Nobel winners are either elderly or are already comfortably based at universities around the world.
