Is US tenure track fertile for change?
Article Abstract:
Women are discouraged in the US from careers in academe due to requirements of tenure which make it hard to have children. Research has found that most women choosing to pursue a career in academe avoid having children but pressure to change the system has now gained momentum from a series of grants awarded by the Sloan Foundation and the need to attract new faculty.

Sober spring break in Gulf
Article Abstract:
Students all over the US are taking their annual spring holidays and the trend is now to volunteer to help clean up following the devastation left in coastal areas following Hurricane Katrina. Students are helping to rebuild homes and restore services.
