Article Abstract:
An analysis of the field of black studies at universities in the United States and the possible lessons that universities in the United Kingdom could learn from these courses. It is suggested that there is a degree of vibrancy about black studies in the US that is missing in the UK where, it is suggested, black issues are largely ignored on an academic level.

The UK experienced its first measles-related death since 1992 in April 2006 and there has been a fall in vaccine uptake. Growing numbers worldwide are refusing vaccines as the focus grows on real and imagined adverse effects of vaccines.
