Linking past to present to create an image of the child
Article Abstract:
The experiences in a rural Alaskan Head Start program, the early steps to recognize an image of the child in their program and ways to incorporate principles of Reggio Emilia approach in it are examined. The Alaskan program was inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach but their program was made relevant to their traditional and cultural contexts to understand childhood.

The development of an early childhood teacher research collaborative
Article Abstract:
Young children's understanding of and relationships to their communities and the natural world are investigated. It is observed that children's interactions with the natural world reflect an intellectual curiosity that even a methodical educational environment fails to evoke and they also develop a sense of community membership and civic engagement in the process.
