Mind your language
Article Abstract:
There are some 6,000 languages world wide, but as many as 95% may become extinct. This leads to a loss of knowledge on culture, migration and the study of a universal grammar in all human language. There is also a theory that language can provide insights into the brain, and that the acquisition of a particular language affects how humans perceive their environment. One strategy to preserve language is bilingualism, but this is not possible for all groups.
