Switched on to culture
Article Abstract:
The highly intensive, advanced multimedia diploma course established by the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, France, in 1995, will produce its first graduates in Jan. 1996. Isabelle Fleuriot, one of the dozen students who paid 30,000 French francs for the course, believes that the diploma will give her an edge over many other people in television. Classes in high-level general culture and intellectual training are an important part of the course which includes the study of both online and offline media. Around half the students worked on Web sites for their trainee project while the other half worked on CD-Roms.

Auteurs of the superoute
Article Abstract:
France's Mediterranean science park, Sophia Antipolis, is currently developing its multimedia base, as part of plans to place it at the head of the European multimedia industry by the year 2000. Audiovisual indexing is one area of research; and while all the buildings in the park have fibre-optic lines, the park is looking to telecommunications companies for the installation of a highway of ultra-fast commercial cables out of Sophia Antipolis.
