Glasgow Caledonian University, which is 70 percent publicly funded, has taken a market-based approach to fundraising, offering staff a range of incentives for commercializing research and reaching department target amounts for outside funding. The university hopes to boost its external income through incentives for personal salary increases and department bonuses.
