Article Abstract:
A sexual relationship between a student and a teacher is not necessarily a bad thing, according to Jane Gallop, professor of literature at the University of Wisconsin. She believes that students, rather than teachers, usually initiate such relationships, and that students can benefit from the feeling of power which they obtain from seducing a teacher. Her feminist views have attracted considerable controversy, and some observers have accused her of stretching the definition of sexual harassment in order to justify her own unethical behaviour.
