'My chemistry teachers had PhDs and one really impressed me with his ability to blow non-strop through a blowtorch without pausing to breathe'
Article Abstract:
Access to inspirational maths and science teachers is becoming restricted and, as such, the Internet could make quality instruction into an universal currency. It is argued that the intellectuals - defined as parasites who exude culture - and celebrities - defined as parasites who exude no culture - who spend their time criticising science and their science teachers must be fought if the fall in science teacher numbers is to be reversed and the advances brought about in our society by scientists are not to be lost.

Review by peers 'good for science'
Article Abstract:
A report produced by campaign group Sense about Science states that academics should stop moaning about the pressures of the peer-review system and should instead work to educate the general public about its importance. The report concludes that many scientists have become bogged down by the need to submit and review papers and that the result of this is that they have lost sight of the benefits that the peer-review system offers.
