Article Abstract:
Christopher Ricks has been appointed professor of poetry at Oxford University. As part of his obligations Ricks will have to deliver 15 lectures over the course of his 5-year appointment in the post. Ricks, who has written books on the likes of T.S. Eliot, John Milton and Bob Dylan, states that his aim is to deliver lectures that people actually want to hear.

A number of one-time student radicals who have gone on to become respected figures argue that they have stayed true to their roots. Among those who claim to still be true to their student radical pasts are Deian Hopkins, vice-chancellor of South Bank University, Roderick Floud, vice-chancellor of London Metropolitan University, and Ian Gibson, Labour MP.
