One nation, under suspicion, loses liberty and justice for all
Article Abstract:
Issues relating to the way in which the United States polices its own citizens has changed since the launch of the war on terror are examined. It is argued that since the United States started its war on terror, the idea of innocent until proven guilty has changed, with people being ritually humiliated at airports and suspects being locked away without charge, and that leaders must not be allowed to use fear of the unknown to curtail people's fundamental civil liberties.

Students take on Pentagon
Article Abstract:
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is using the law to seek the release of any Defence Department reports about students staging antiwar protests at the University of California campuses in 2004. The move is an effort to find out if the students were spied on and whether information gathered was shared ith other government agencies.

Staff and students in US rally to back low-paid workers striking to win higher wages
Article Abstract:
Students and faculty at some top universities in the US are taking action to support low-paid workers. At the University of Miami, some 350 cleaners, janirots, painters and landscape gardners went on hunger strike in support of union recognition and were supported by student and faculty.
