Oxbridge: beta-minus-minus
Article Abstract:
A former philosophy fellow at Pembrooke College, Oxford, England, writes about his experiences of trying to modernize the examinations system at Oxford University. He points out how the system allows humanities students to perform well on examination day even if they have not attended courses throughout the year. He reports how graduate work in Oxford was not seen as way of preparing the graduate for professional work. He notes how tutors in the US are judged by their students which is not the case at Oxford University.

Pssst, you're a natural gossip
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the contention that modern technology, such as e-mail, mobile phones and text messaging, are having a detrimental impact of human interaction and relationships. It is argued that the suggestion is false, that humans are born gossips and that they are simply using technology to gossip in a new way, one in which they do not actually have to see one another.
