Pensions crisis may threaten pay rises
Article Abstract:
The University and Colleges Employers' Association has warned that future pay rises could be in jeopardy as institutions are being forced to divert funds in order to deal with a crisis in pensions. The money that the universities will need to cover hugely increased employers' pension contributions will consume much of the additional income generated by top-up fees, meaning that extra funds for pay will be limited in the future.
