Article Abstract:
Partnerships have been set up between UK colleges of further education and universities. The universities tend to be dominant in these partnerships, and there are a number of factors that affect the relationship between the two types of institutions. These factors include structural relationships and the administrative power derived from structure, and possession of resources which the other partner depends on, including resources of human capital.

Participation down... A-level grades up
Article Abstract:
Research from the Institute of Education shows that the percentange of 16-year olds planning to stay in full-time education has dropped for the first time in 10 years. This will affect the system as the increases in A level and vocational attainments have depended on rising participation. The fall is attributed to the small improvement in the youth labour market, the worsening further education drop out rates and falling recruitment.
