SA dentist helps to heal racial abscess
Article Abstract:
The task of transforming South Africa's higher education sector has been entrusted to Jairam Reddy who, being of Asian descent, was unable to pursue his chosen profession of dentistry at a South African university in the 1960s. The dept. of education's green paper on higher education released in late Dec. 1996, proposes sweeping reforms of South Africa's 21 universities and 15 polytechnics. A rapid expansion of higher education is planned with institutions being financially rewarded for satisfying the economy's need for more science graduates and the social need for more black graduates.
