Students rail at cut in lectures
Article Abstract:
Students at Bath University are demanding a 20% reduction in their fees to compensate them for a proposed 20% cut in lecture time. The university has requested that all of its departments submit plans to reduce lecture time by 10 February 2003 in order to more effectively manage the space that it has available to teach its expanding student base. The number of students at Bath has risen to over 11,000 in 2002, vs 9,000 in 1999.

Confusion, controversy, clashes over leadership
Article Abstract:
An analysis of what has gone wrong at Oxford University's Harris Manchester College, where governance and financial difficulties are putting the future of the college in doubt. Harris Manchester, which serves mature students at Oxford, became the university's newest college in 1996, but even at the time there were concerns that Harris's projected endowment of UKPd4 mil was not enough and that the university's wealthier colleges would have to help it out financially.
