An overview of the "Protecting the Public: The Management and Assessment of Dangerous Offenders" conference which is due to take place on 2-3 December 2004 at the Wellington Park Hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The conference will bring together experts from the Government, academia, special hospitals and the police to discuss the best way to deal with individuals who have committed or are likely to commit violent acts.

An analysis of the role played by outside consultants in the higher education sector and the amount spent on them. Those that employ consultants argue that they provide a valuable service, bringing expertise that would not otherwise be available, while others contend that too often consultants bring nothing that is not already available within the higher education system and do so at a cost of up to UKPd2,000/day.
