The U.K. Government is planning to cut welfare spending on incapacity benefit claimants off work due to anxiety and depression, by improving their mental health through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). However, academics raise doubts about the effectiveness of the therapy in a fixed number of sessions, delivered by people who are not experts in the field.
