Putting a price - and a value - on FE
Article Abstract:
The Further Education Funding Council for England (FEFCE) has issued a paper part of which discusses new funding arrangements for further education, and this will be considered by heads of further education. The FEFCE's Funding Learning document proposed a tariff of separate funding sectors which will see the introduction of the 'standard unit', enabling colleges to request the type of funding required based on the level of student achievement and courses offered. The programming elements sector of the tariff has split the activities of colleges into three parts, entry, on-programme, and exit, a concept which would see further education funding covering such activities and services as registration and guidance of students, marketing and support and assessment.
