Queen Mary accused of ignoring misconduct
Article Abstract:
London University's Queen Mary College failed to take action over an allegation of scientific misconduct made in 2001 by Norman Miller, a member of the college's staff, against his junior research colleague, Gillian Cockerill. Miller claimed that Cockerill attempted to "plagiarise" his work by removing his name - without his consent or knowledge - from a list of collaborators to a major research project. Miller notes that a letter he received from the college implies that no action has been taken against Cockerill, and if this is true then the college should furnish an explanation.

Psychology head suspended
Article Abstract:
De Montfort University's head of psychology, Tony Cassidy, has been suspended on charges of 'bringing the university into disrepute' after circulating strong criticism of managers to department colleagues. Professor Cassidy e-mailed staff in his department informing them that their undergraduate psychology course would lose its accreditation from the British Psychology Society and blamed Gillian Grant, faculty dean, and Dave Ward, head of the school of Applied Sciences, for failing to fund the psychology department properly.
