Reviews: Software Previews: Math On Computers: Factoring Whole Numbers
Article Abstract:
Factoring Whole Numbers is a six lesson interactive program which teaches mathematical concepts in a self-explanatory, clear way. Games at the end of each lesson reinforce concepts. The program holds students' attention without overwhelming them. The material can be used for primary teaching at the junior high level or as supplementary reinforcement at high school levels. Students can progress at their own speed, and can skip, go back or repeat material. Topics covered are factor pairs, perfect squares, square roots, primes, composites, the Sieve of Eratosthenes, and exponents and factors. The program is highly recommended, costing $90.00 for use on the TRS-80, 16K tape or 32K disk, Apple 32K or 48K or PET 16K machines.

Reviews: Software Previews: Comprehension Power
Article Abstract:
Comprehension Power is an excellent program for testing reading speed and comprehension. Four disks have three tests each that can be displayed at varied reading speeds. Students read a story and take a multiple choice test which covers twenty-five comprehension skills. If an answer is wrong, second tries are prompted, and 'rereads' are allowed. A teacher's guide is through and makes learning to use the program easy. This program costs $150 for each level, A through L. Levels Hi-A-B-C, D-E-F, G-H-I, and J-K-L are $425, or $635 with back-up disks. It runs on the Apple IIe, 48K.
