Teaching courses prove a struggle

Many junior academics are struggling to complete extensive workloads demanded by courses which aim to improve teaching skills, according to a report by the Higher Education Academy (HEA). The HEA accredited programmes have been running for 15 years.

'Obsolete' networks pose handicap for academic research, warns report

Almost one third of UK universities have computer networks which are so old that consultants have labelled them 'obsolete'. Consultants have found computers up to 15 years out of date and old cabling which prevent high-speed internet access.
