Lifetime Achievement Award

The Times Higher Education Supplement gave its Lifetime Achievement Award for 2005 to Lewis Elton, who has recently accepted a visiting professorship of higher education at Manchester University. Elton, who is now 82, is widely acknowledged to have inspired a generation of academics who have carried on his work.
