Hike in visa cost will not deter foreign students
Article Abstract:
The UK's Immigration Minister argues that the Government's plans to increase the cost of student visas from the current level of UKPd36 to at least UKPd250 are fair and will not have a detrimental impact on the number of foreign students wanting to come to the UK. It is contended that, when compared with the average UKPd13,000/yr cost of tuition fees and living expenses, the UKPd250 cost of a visa is trifling, and it is pointed out that in 2004 the demand for student visas rose by 37% vs 2003.
