Consult and complain, but don't question the parentage
Article Abstract:
Research students in the United Kingdom who have problems with supervisors should first talk to the supervisor concerned, then approach their student union, or the National Union of Students. The departmental head, or an independent committee is the next stage, then the dean of the university, and lastly, an outside body such as the research council which provided the funds. Students should write down their complaints, and refrain from personal attacks on supervisors, which obscure the issues in addition to being politically unwise.

Struggle to reverse student immobility
Article Abstract:
There has been a significant drop in applications to UK universities from European Union students. These students bring no additional funds for UK universities, so this trend has attracted little attention. The National Union of Students in Europe is calling on universities to encourage student mobility both from the European Union to the UK and from the UK to Europe.
