Tables turned on critics
Article Abstract:
The authors of The Times newspaper university league tables point out they have devised the tables to help prospective students choose the most appropriate place to study. It has been suggested the tables should include an added-value component but it would be difficult to devise an infallible measurement. Some critics suggest by using A-level scores as a measurement of standards on entry to the universities does not take into consideration all of the people who enter, with other types of qualifications. But A-levels provide a measurement which is the same throughout the UK.
