Teach students to swashbuckle
Article Abstract:
Advice for university and college teachers and lecturers on how to get their students to improve their writing skills. Tips include incorporating the teaching of writing skills into courses, stressing to students the importance of structure in their essays, providing students with an opportunity to practise their writing without fear of assessment and recognising that while grammar and spelling are important, the argument that is being made is the most important thing.

How to keep a 'clearing' head
Article Abstract:
Advice for universities and academics on how to deal with the process of "clearing", or dealing with potential students who have failed to get the university place they wanted and are now looking for another course. Tips include beginning planning for the clearing process early, being able to provide students with instant responses, being friendly and sympathetic and being able to provide students with information about accommodation and finance.
