Teaching against idiocy
Article Abstract:
Idiocy, an aspect, which characterizes an individual as selfish, self- centered and as an individual concerned myopically with private things and unmindful of common things, has been the scourge of our time and place. It is argued that schools are well positioned for the task of fighting idiocy, and suggestions are provided as to how to improve their efforts and achieve greater success.

Teaching to the test: do schools have it backward?
Article Abstract:
Questions are raised about the effectiveness of educational tests in truly indicating a child's abilities. It is suggested that teachers should seek to oppose the standardized testing movement and that more emphasis should be placed on skills that cannot be easily measured, such as listening to the ideas of others.
